Defunding Undergraduate Education: Part II

Recently, a UCLA dean sent lay-off notices to 67 lecturers, many of whom teach writing courses, such as English 2, English 3, English 100W, English 5W, English 6W. The University says that it may "suspend [undergraduate] requirements in part or in full" as part of its plan to solve the budget crisis.

UCLA Students, please offer your thoughts on the University's plan. Tell us how writing courses worked for you in your studies? How did the instructors help you? What aspects of writing classes do you most remember?
